It doesn't show the Blakesely effect which is worrisome. The thing about clipped planchets is that they can be easily faked since not all authentic clips show the Blakesely effect. IMHO it could be real or fake. There is no way to tell.
On this Cent which is a Copper Plated Zinc Cent you can. The Zinc on the clip is not exposed. The area was plated before it was struck. The small exposed (zinc rot) areas are post mint.
I say it is a real clip. One of my diagnostics is the top of the "N" in ONE. It presents itself lower than the "O" and "E" due to the metal being pulled out of the die at its greatest pressure. Your coin being a Zinc coin with exposed metal will require special care for preservation.
Wow! I didn't realize that. It makes sense since the plating process occurs after coins are made into planchets. Thanks for the info.
