I came across this 1983 d Lincoln cent in my pocket change and thought it was worth asking some of the experts here about. As you can see in the pictures (sorry if they're not the best pictures), it looks like it has a Cud error on the lower left side. Right next to the cud is what has me stumped. I was thinking maybe it's a die clash? Or maybe nothing at all. Any thoughts on this coin would be appreciated. Thank you 20220224_114807.jpg 20220224_114924.jpg 20220222_092031.jpg 20220222_092330.jpg

    DEFDAM - Definitely Damaged :yack:
All issues are PMD. Tool crimp.

Not a mint error of any kind.

Looks like someone put it in a vise, maybe shot it or gave it a good hit from the backside, then folded the stretched out material around the obverse and tamped it down.

I was thinking that too. I agree with PMD, @MPau …what does it weigh?

I always weigh this date…I believe 15 or so have been found on copper planchets.

I can see why you questioned this coin. As already mentioned, it is all PMD. The reverse took one heck of a hit with something, and the parallel lines are from a tool probably holding the coin too hard. A spender.
Also, the MM is starting to decay and sink, which is common with plated zinc coins. Soon, it will be gone. LOL

That makes sense. I was wondering about the parallel lines. Thank you
