1983 Canadian cent (is reverse supposed 2 b upside down?)

    Hi, I was given this1983 Canadian cent as change @ a gas station. Is the reverse supposed to b upside down, I looked online & got frustrated. Does somebody know? Thank you IMG_20150630_170103.jpg IMG_20150630_170156.jpg

    If you hold it between your finger and your thumb and turn it the queen and the maple leaf should be right side up.. icon_smile_thumbsup.gif

    I know they stopped making pennies in Canada, but this is normal though?

    The maple leaf is upside down, when I do that.

    The top of the Maple leaf and the top of the Queen's head should be in the same direction

    do you mean coin alignment and medal alignment ?

    They r not in the same direction (they r opposite.

    Take a pic of both sides in a mirror

    Bonnie, I'm not sure what your showing me in pic-I see the thickness of coins is different.

    Ok, so the Canadian penny is not like the US penny?

    Flip it side to side. Both sides should be upright. That's medal alignment, as opposed to coin alignment used on US coins.
