It may not mean anything today but that's an extended BIE and it's diagonal.

but this is a 1983 I've havent even seen anything about a 1983 BIE. I also have
a 1994 and 1998 BIE.

 

That's because BIES aren't popular. I had some 1991 coin with a big ol' BIE, but because error/variety collecting is such a niche in the hobby, and BIE errors are generally even less collectable/known than more major errors and varieties, I'm not sure there is a good resource that lists all the known BIEs.

 

I was looking for a list of known BIEs also and couldn't find 1.
I've got a bunch of BIEs from the 50'. it would be nice if someone
created a list I would send in pictures of the 1s I have.

 

The only reference books I'm aware of is Jean Cohen's book and the BIE Handbook. Both are very out of Date. You have a really good BIE Tommy. There's just not a big market for them and there may never be one without a modern reference.

 

thanks I will just hold on to it. i kind of like these and have quite a few dates.

 

BTW, John Wexler was supposedly writing a new reference for BIEs. But that was ten years ago so maybe he changed mind on it.
