Jimmy...happy thanksgiving to you too. Check that site alurid put up. After you think you see doubling, check that site first before anything else. If your coin doesnt match one of the listed, it is very unlikely you have anything because if you did, it would be a brand new discovery. www.doubleddie.com is another one that you can quickly and easily look to "rule out" what you have. I use it religiously and if it doesnt pass the "VV" or "DD" test, I generally dont post it anymore just to save myself the time of taking multiple photos and all. If you use those sites to research every "doubled die" you think you see, you will end up being really good and fast at navigating those sites to quickly determine if its a possibility. The other thing that happens is that over time, you start getting familiar with the photos and die markers for the coins and years (look at it enough it definitely starts to stick with you). I find it to be helpful to have it in your brain because then when you are looking at coins you start to remember what to look for with certain denominations and years. It just takes time and Im no where near anything good at this but it does make things easier knowing how to "rule out" quite a bit of what you find. For instance, Its burned in my brain now that on Variety Vista, there are no DDOs for lincolns 74, 77 and 79. In fact, on VV, there are no DDOs for any 1979 penny so when I see them, I take a quick look for any other obvious anomaly/error/variety and move on...but dont bother looking close for doubling because chances are incredibly high that any doubling no matter how cool it looks is worthless doubling. Just my personal take brother and I could be completely off base with the way I do this!!! For beginner part timers like me, this discipline helped me cut down on my garbage posts ( at least with DDOs/Rs and RPMs little lol)
