1982 sm date?

    Came across this and my having yet to develop much confidence need a little help please. 1982 D weight 3.097 .... this one came out of a change drawer. Is it a small date please. Thank you

    No. Large Date. The top loop on the "8" is much smaller than the bottom loop. Also, Denver minted copper cents don't have small date variety. Only Philadelphia.

    It's a 1982D copper (based on the weight you gave) large date cent.

    It should enlarge if you click on it. I acquired two sets of these when they first came out so I had a comparison. The only thing that bothers me is if one of these may actually be the big dollar cooper cent that's been reported. I guess I will have to break them out to find out as it looks like they were sonically or heat sealed sealed.

    Should have been more clear that I was referring to Denver copper cents since OP's cent is about the 3.11g weight of copper cents. Zinc's are 2.5g. I have edited my post.
