Found this proof coin in a roll today, I noticed some of what my eyes perceive to be doubling and extra thickness. I see it on the date, IGWT, and possibly a littpe bit on towards the middle of QUARTER DOLLAR on the back. I promise this will be my last post for a bit, as I have finally run out of change to check lol please, tell me what you all think.
Is it better for you guys if I circle/otherwise denote what/where I'm seeing? It might help create some teachable points now that I think about it
I also compared it as best I could with Wexler's listing for this coin and they look identical to me, he just didn't list any doubling on the date. I promise I am actually researching my coins before I ask lol
It was so freaking hard to get decent pictures of this coin lol my phone hates reflective surfaces. I am going to experiment with different lightings for proof coins.
If Wexler says ALL 1982 P, D, S, will have this doubling IMO it would seem to mean there's no added value for a Doubled Die. It's found here: https://doubleddie.com/1827525.html
I don't care about the value honestly, and I had read that, but thanks for the info! I'm trying to tune my eyes to see the difference between hub doubling and mechanical doubling in practice. I've seen the picture references and stuff but its not the same as having an example in my hands to study you know? Good to know that it is actually the right kind of doubling though!
