How can you tell a large or small date on 1982 pennies?

OP's coins are both large date. Both 2's are same distance from rim, in addition to being the "large" 2's.

To me the Large date looks like an L
And the Small date is curvy like an S
Just look at the image provided by Michael
    It's very easy

The 2's are shaped different and one is closer to the 8 then the other...the second one also has some extra rim..

Read what I told you.. They both look like the letter L at the bottom of the 2. So they are Large Date..
    Again... Very simple!

Don't all number 2's have an L...even if you say they are large dates why would both 2s look that different? why is one closer to the 8 and the other has a space between it?..both minted at the same place..

Save this to your photo file. If you can't understand this, then you should stop looking for errors & varieties.

NO! Look at the picture we provided!
Such an obvious difference! Forget the distance factor.. I never use that.. Just one look and in miliseconds I can determine the difference!

The distance from the 2 to the rim IS helpful when the 2 has taken a hit or when the picture is out of focus (lol). But certainly the distance between the 2 and the 8 is entirely irrelevant.

Please go back and edit your comment in Post #11. You placed your comment within my comment that you quoted.

"Sorry that's never gonna happen...I read the comments and i believe the first reply...nobody else has been able to explain the gap in between one 2 and not the other...or why neither 2 are shaped alike..."

Oh hell! Never mind. We can't even draw you a picture to make you understand. I'll bet you get lost reading a road map, too!

You don't want to quit? I'll tell you what will happen. Everyone will just ignore your threads.

I'm curious.. And what mint would that be?

This is very important to know if you plan to sell coins!
