1982 LD Lincoln Cent

    This is a odd looking penny that I came across going through coin rolls. Weight is 2.47 g. Never seen one like it.

    Pretty sure that's some corrosion, I don't see anything else off about it.

    Well now you have ;)

    Weight is within Copper Plated Zinc planchet tolerance. Something affected the plating post mint.

    From what I'm seeing, your coin has been exposed to some acidic solution, that has caused the surfaces to become "eaten" away. A coin in a cup holder that had orange juice spilled, could easily cause this reaction, or being in a urinal or buried. Who knows, but it is a good example for a learning experience.

    I once saw a cent that had passed through a large dog's intestinal tract , and once cleaned resembled that. Humans shouldn't try that.
