Looks like a glob of copper on his ear resembling an ear ring. Lol . This looks like it happened at the mint .the scratch coming down his face after. 1982 LD penny. Boy I wish I could find the 1982 SD D copper penny. ( title should say 1982 LD penny not 1982 LD d penny)

I wasn't being rude or in any way unpleasant, but simply stating factual reality. Success in this hobby is almost always directly connected to knowledge and/or one's willingness to learn (unless willing to pay up for the assistance of someone who has). If interested in varieties or errors, this is of particular importance as it will help you separate the wheat from the chaff, but I've no skin in this game so please, do or think as you see fit.

 

Don't be offended. Look at the positive side. We have a lot of people who start looking for errors before they even understand the minting process. You're not alone!
