Here's how little I care. I have literally ROLLS of 1982-D SD cents and I've never weighed a single one of them. Why? Because I can do the math.
Ship ‘em to me, Kurt and I’ll weigh them some night when I have insomnia; I’ll do it at no charge and we’ll split the windfall. Steve
@Ricochet @Shrews1994 ...here are 4 resources that will help you both. Buy a Yeoman Redbook. It is a treasure trove of information for all U.S. denominations, I use mine daily. Search the Cointalk website for threads that explain the differences and significance of what happened in 1982 for Lincoln Memorial cents (LMC). Go to lincolncentresource.com. This is where Clawcoins got the pics he posted for you about 1982 large date vs small date. They have been posted on CT hundreds of times. Go to doubleddie.com and select "How dies are made". It explains the minting process and will teach you why some of the damage you find on coins could not have happened at the Mint and could not be an error coin. One last note: Posting your coins on Ricochet's thread is what is termed a "hijack" on the forum no matter how innocent your intentions were. Bryanstrong did it too, and yes, both were unintentional. Questions and information offered should be directed to the OP thread. Better to remember manners and etiquette and start your own thread. Responses are more appropriate and better directed this way and helps minimize confusion between coin pictures. Please keep in mind CT members want to help you, but there is some due diligence you must perform by yourself for yourself. Welcome to CoinTalk. Our hobby takes time to learn, and we will be here to help you do that, if you are receptive. With Best Regards,...Spark
Nice concise post there sparky (@Spark1951). Kudos. If I had the desire and will to help people (hehehe, I crack myself up sometimes), I'd copy-n-paste your post in about 99% of all Error Coin threads.
Like beating a horse to death, But on the bright side some of the folks that read this will actually leave here with the ability to see different die diagnostics, If those of us actually keep answering these questions the future of numismatics will live on.
