    Hi Everyone:

Was hoping to get a little help with identifying a small/large date 1982 penny. I've watched and re-watched a bunch of videos on it, but still I find it tough. This coin I really feel comes the closest I've seen to being a legit small date, but I need the input of you all, because you sure as heck have a lot more experience in this than I do.

Give me a holler with your thoughts. Thanks. 1982 D SmDate.jpg

Large date. Look for a small curve in arc of the 2 where it meets the bottom line of the 2. lgsmall.JPG

Your new pic is a small date .If it weighs 3.1 it is copper. A zinc would weigh 2.5.

Thanks for the help guys. I guess it's all in the curve of the 2.

The Large date is also notably closer to the edge.

The small date gets it's name because it is actually pretty petite compared to the large, when you find one you won't have to ask.
