You could play the lottery for 1000 years and never win. 10,000 years.
If you looked at 1 penny every second 24 hours/365 it would take 31 1/2 years to go through 1 billion. You'll need to go through 10 billion of these large date Denver cents, and there may not be another copper one. Just explaining it's not a reasonable search. Yes, I believe 1 will turn up. But it's not worth spending the rest of your life looking for it.
Every time they have the lottery, it's an independent event and your odds are reset to 300 million to 1. And people don't win it every day. Sometimes it takes months and the accumulation of billions of tickets for some drunken bum to stumble into a bodega in Gary, Indiana and buy some Colt 45 malt liquor and some quick picks.

A 3.1 gram 82d is very rare. Could be. You might want to get new scale or looked a professionally if your so sure

On the site link recommended WAAAAAY upthread, there are instructions to construct a very useful “scale” (actually a device) to distinguish zinc from bronze 1982 cents. It uses literally a pencil and a tongue depressor (maybe a popsicle stick works too) in its construction. Yes, it’s a “one trick pony”, but it’s very cheap and it works well for this purpose. Heather, if you would make extras, I’d buy one from you. My post-stroke tremors have spoiled my fine motor skills. You should see me try to re-tube coins - NOT pretty. My bad hand can still lift very heavy weights, but can’t turn a screwdriver. The brain can be a very odd thing.

No need for that, but I would send you a nice book from my library in return.

Have you made me a 1982 "cheat scale"? No, I didn't think so. :troll::D Heather is going to have to tell me how "basic", or not, she wants to go. The 2019 Red Book will be in my hands VERY soon. I always have extra.

I figured you'd think up some excuse like that. Actually, I was trying to compliment you on your generosity, I think that's a good thing. :)

I bought a great little digital gram scale on Amazon for about 7 bucks, which I use for coins and jewelry. Had to change the batteries once in 2-3 years.
This one only goes to tenths, if I were to get another, I would go to hundredths. But for my purposes, tenths are fine. It has NEVER misidentified a zinc or copper cent.

Many members don't have a fairly decent scale for coins. Here is a scale that will weigh up to 50 grams with .001 gram resolution and a weight to calibrate it occasionally to be accurate. It is on amazon, but you can find them by several brand names many places, and the price won't sink your budget. Jim

Thanks. That was very nice of you to recognize my contributions for the day. You must forgive me. I cannot tolerate pompous arrogant people. I must say deeply saddens me when someone comes to this site to learn about coins and all they get there's a bunch of flack. I believe it's kind of discouraging and there's no need for it. But to each their own if it makes one happy to be rude two other people then so be it. Have A Grand Day.

So I made the scale with the tongue depressor in the pencil and my pennies do tip the scale. I'm not sure how I feel about the scale. I used a new Penny and a 1975 penny and in comparison ro my two 1982. The new Penny does not tip the scale. The 1975 Penny tips the scale and the sound of it hitting the table . . . Well you can hear the weight. And the two 1982 also tip the scale but not with the same thump as the 1975. I just ordered a scale that someone mentioned above from Amazon.
