Hi again. Thank you everyone for the good direction in this. I have a question for you. I was sitting here at my desk tonight and grabbed my 80's pennies. Long story short got to my 1982's and started to weigh them. All weighed at 2.5 grams except one 1982 D. It weighs 3.6 grams. I think this is good news however I'm reading something about a large date small date variety? Plus it's not in the best shape. I am new to all this so I couldn't help feeling a little excitement. But I don't want to get too excited yet. My question is what should I do from here to know if I got a keeper? Thank you everyone, Angela
Small date 82 d copper is the winning ticket. Pics of the coin, front and back will help alot in determining what you really have..along with an accurate scale reading

It is,that is what it is supposed to be. 1999 u want to find a wide AM. Plz respect the original poster and create your own thread to ask about your coins.
Welcome to Coin Talk. We need photos so that we can tell if your coin is the small date or large date variety. Check your coin against those on this site: http://www.lincolncentresource.com/smalldates/1982.html The only 1982 Cent with any significant value is the 1982-D Small Date Copper variety.
You have a 1982 Large Date variety of the Lincoln cent. Check this site: http://www.lincolncentresource.com/smalldates/1982.html Your photo of the Dime is not clear enough to see anything. From what I CAN see, it looks damaged and not a mint error. Also, since you're new I just want to inform you that you should have started a new thread about your coins. What you did is called "Hijacking" another members post. This is considered improper but since you are new, it's overlooked as being an honest mistake. Have fun with this hobby.
Large Date you really need to start your own separate thread. Don't hijack someone else's thread and change the subject. Not closed.. close AM.. Yes it is
Simple answer.. 1982 were minted on both Copper and Copper plated zinc planchets. Copper in the beginning then switched over to what they are made of until now. There is a 1982 Copper Small Date with a D mint mark that only 2 have ever been discovered and certified. There are hundreds of threads over the years here on CoinTalk with new collectors thinking they found one and it's always the same results.. They didn't!
Both of you have successfully highjacked the thread of @missangb . You should have started your own thread. Being new, I'm sure Angela doesn't want to ruffle any feathers, so I feel it is our place as long-time members to let you know. Chris
