Hi everyone I think this coin might be my first DD on FG. I looked up on Wexler DD coins and saw they had one for that date. I did the best I could on the pictures but it for sure was a hard one to take. If the pictures do not show enough then when my son gets home I will have my son try. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Coin addiction? Really? Oh, I should tell you that there is no known cure and the addiction progresses as time goes by. I was young when it got ahold of me. Lol
I was researching about true DD and machine and I think I can see the difference now. It is still confusing but with help of everyone helping me I should be fine.
Here’s an inexpensive photo setup - Fill your viewer with the coin. Keep it in focus. Adjust your pedestal to an optimal height to minimize the need to magnify while filling the viewer. Watch for shadows and glare. As shown, bending the direct light using an old piece of glass from a picture frame causes indirect lighting. And have fun perfecting your picture taking.
Why does Wexler do this? Notice in the description that he lists none for obverse die markers. An easy one is MM placement. MM placement is the go-to for a die match. 1980-D 1¢ WDDR-001 Description: A close Class II spread towards the center shows on the designer’s initials and the lower second A in AMERICA. Die Markers: Obverse: None noted. Reverse: A die gouge can be found to the right of the lower F in OF. A die gouge can be found above the right side of the second U in PLURIBUS.
Omg there is a lot to learn, it seems so overwhelming but I am going to learn all I can. I really appreciate all of everyone's help. I will do some more researching on the above coin. Thanks.
