I read that canadian quarters before the year 2000 was made of 99.9% nickel weighing 5.07g. After that they were made of 94% steel, 3.8% copper and 2.2% nickel plating weighing 4.4g. This canadian quarter weighs 5.0g and is magnetic as though it is steel. My knowledge is very limited on foreign coins. Is this normal? Or maybe a counterfeit? image.jpg 20200720_111608.jpg

    Exactly 5.0 grams?
Can you show it on your gram scale?

FYI.. Steel is not magnetic it is ferromagnetic which means it will stick to a magnet. ;)

Irrespective of the coin’s weight, both steel (made mostly of iron) and nickel are magnetic.

Numista catalogue does list these as just nickel (not a mixture) and they weigh exactly 5.07g.

    Weight checks out.
