As Frank (Treasure Hunt) mentioned, the mint did not produce mint sets in 82 and 83 - for reasons that can be researched on line. During those years, "mint" sets were made by various private companies - including the mint itself. The sets that had the us mint medals in them were produced at the mint and sold as "souvinier" sets at the Denver and Philadelphia mint shops. These are the sets that you have and are the better of all the private mint sets of these years. They appear to be in excellent condition. Price is always an issue with these sets as I refuse to pay top dollar, but do own the 82 set. The 83 sets seems to command a higher price than the 82 and I refuse to pay it. Although your price appears a little high, you received some nice sets. The funny thing is, true us mint sets contain better struck coins than coins used for circulation and since mint set were not produced during these years, all you are purchasing are uncirculated coins made for circulation sealed in plastic wrap. So IMO, all you are doing is paying the premium for plastic wraps, blue envelopes and a mint medal, but that is why we are collectors!
