1981 no mint mark penny possibly a proof?

    I have a 1986 silver or steel penny. Does anyone know what it may be worth.

    Guys I think I found a error 1981 penny can you give a opinion on this... is on the Liberty the T And Y it looks like two 77

    It looks like it just got banged up, flattening the letters a little.

    It not only needs to have high rims but also they have to be "square" in cross section. The obverse of you coin has some of this but the reverse has less.

    Now the complicating factor; some extremely well struck BU coins can have square rims. Perhaps your coin was recently liberated from a mint set since mint sets have far more well struck coins as more pressure is used to strike these.

    I'm sure better pictures will confirm it's a BU strike and might support the notion it came from a mint set. You can't prove it's mint set but one's confidence can get fairly high in some cases.
