Please note much bolder lettering, numbers, Eagle image but most noted on date, In good we trust and on E. Pluribus Unum. Coin looks in good shape. What you guys think? Is this a DDO/DDR or die deterioration doubling?
The letters are phat on the first one because it was affected more by circulation wear than the second one. Chris
Ok it Looks to me like this coins whole imprint on obverse and on reverse Looks allot more imprinted and bolder in certain areas like on/ In good we trust, E.pluribus Unum and especially on date. This is compared to 2 other 1981 D quarters. But probably nothing after all. Thank you #1 in question #2 #3 also in question? Thank you guys.
Please keep in mind that there were more than 575 million of the Denver mintmark struck and who knows how many of those circulated for 38 years or so. You can't realistically draw a conclusion by comparing three coins. Chris
@Alexander Sanchez ...by now you should be comparing what you find to Variety Vista and Wexler to see if it matches. At first glance you can see the considerable wear on these quarters...worn, squashed lettering, rolling machine crimp scoring and other evidence of 38 years of circulation. Except in the most egregious doubling, any doubling on those coins would have been worn away long ago...Spark
