The acetone will melt the crap right off. I found some fingernail polish remover that says it's pure acetone, but I haven't had an opportunity to try it yet.

    I have to ask justcoins....

What are you talking about with respect to plating bubbles and such. The coin is dated 1980...no plating:)

Anyway..It does appear to be brush strokes of some sort.

Let us know what happens with the acetone.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Well now his last pic identifies that this is nail polishand now it has been established, and I said that from the beginning that it looked like glue or some starnge substance Smudged in the fields.

No need to post a last picture. YOU GUYS NAILED IT!!! When I applied the
pure acetone, whatever it was, is completely off... looks like any ordinary 1980 reverse coin.
I want to thank you all, it was quite a learning experience for me.

Yes you did say that but immediately changed your opinion to ,
'What it looks like to me with the new pics They look like an invasion of huge elongated gas bubbles'
I mentioned this to clear up the confusion with your recent comments.

I will not bicker with you since we were already warned from D orc. I just want to clear it up to show you what I ment.

I said from the beginning of the first pic that it was a substance possible glue on the surface,

The second pic he posted looked different as you know how pics are when taking from different angles I said now it looks like an invasion of elongated gas bubbles only by the new pic.

The third pic confirmed that already when i stated that with the new pic now you could tell that's polish on the surface of the coin.

There was no confusion, because it was cleared up in the thread already See what I mean D Orc it;s not me sorry D ORC

    Just thought I would ask

lately in the error section if you post anything your going to get trashed. Why is that? we all are just trying to show off what we found.not start a war of words & name calling

nobody was trashing anyone. it was merely pointed out that just coins comment about gas bubbles in the plating wasn't possible because the coun predated plating. instead of acknowledging he made a mistake Just coins decided to deny what the posts clearly stated. He has told me I need to grow up and i was just expecting him to dothe same by admitting when he made a mistake instead of denying. If this is trashing then i guess we are all just children that need to be protected from reality
    Just my opinion
