I am looking through my dimes and came across it kind of cooli think and on the front side idk if you noticed the top of the letters kind of smeared lol I'm excited
Im new so I'm trying to get all the help and info if you don't mind can you explain a lil about what that means if you don't mind
Grease or other foreign matter got into the die and prevented a full strike of all the lettering on the reverse. On the obverse, this misalignment was caused by the machinery being slightly out of specifications causing the coin to be able to be a bit struck slightly out of it's intended strike area.
I saw the it I thought it looked a bit odd I have 2 like that on the top but this one was missing the letters on back
Yes, it's a keeper for sure. Does not hold a lot of value but is an interesting, genuine error nonetheless.
Yes. More of a conversation piece. I would play 50 cents for it plus the cost of the dime so 60 cents.
Very awesome I'm so excited thank you I have lots of change but I am still looking around to see what I find
I forgot to say welcome to Coin Talk! A site that could help you out a lot on errors and how they are created and what are not errors would be www.doubleddie.com. There is a lot of useful info on all sorts of errors there, enough to keep you busy for hours. You can click directly on the link I have provided.
Word of advice. Always posts your coins separate. I ignore threads that I have answered sometimes (a lot of ppl here do that) and that's damaged.
If a Dime is missing letters.. then it's worth 9 or 8 Cents. The more Letters it's missing, the less it's worth!
