    Hello, I have a question regarding the Mint mark on this coin. I first thought it might have a D over an S, then after checking Variety Vista I noticed no such thing. It's boogered up for sure but that hole in the D is confusing me. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

    It's a mint mark that took a nasty hit. It's damaged.
    Nothing else.

    Yeah, it’s damaged. It just distorted like that, enough to cause a second look.

    hey Ronnie Darnell welcome to CT. the 'D' mint mark was hit somehow causing it to look like this. you will see a lot of coins that look similar. keep it for future ref. good luck man
