Found this 1972 quarter in a customer roll yesterday and not positive on the mint mark. I think i see a S with a die chip in the middle. But in the 2years roll hunting iv never come across a S quarter. If so wow it would b my 1st. Well tell me what you see or think yoy see...thanks for stopping by and Happy Hunting.
Looks like it is an Impaired Proof coin with a die chip in the mintmark. 1979 had 2 types of mintmarks. SBA's also had this 2 type mintmark. The Red Book make a note of it.
My guess is that its a grease filled die and that its a D since its more square and not rounded looking
you should be reading it for 5-10 minutes every night learning stuff until you finish it, then start over again.
At first I am not seeing a proof. The rims are wide and the reverse is nice, but it appears to be a business strike. If the mm is a blob S then it is an impaired proof. The enlargement looks a lot more like the blob S than a D that took a hit.
I had no idea what u were talking about till i took another look...thats crazy n funny....its the lost quarter sample of Boston haha
