    I have 1 1977s lincoln cent not copper steel or zink it is not coated either. is this a prototype for the 82 metal penny's.

    All of these crazy ideas. Listen guys and gals, the coins were obviously plated after they left the mint. Period.

    You can post pictures of your coin, and get an accurate weight measurement. Could be struck on the wrong planchet, but most likely just plated.
