Good evening to everyone! I just recently started collecting coins and still unfamiliar with what to look for with regards to coin errors. I've been watching videos and reading articles, which has helped me quite a bit. Another area that I am quite curious is the method on selecting and deciding which coin, especially the circulated one's, should be sent for grading.
I am excited to learn from all of you. I am including a pic a of a 1979 -d quarter that I found. Tell me if you notice the same th

It's a well circulated Quarter. The circle marks on the surface is damage from a wrapper crimping machine.
    Not a Mint error.

How about the merging of the letters I & N , (In God We Trust)?

There are so many factors. The type of Mint Error is very important. There are minor and major Mint errors. Most are not worth sending in for attribution.

Thanks alot. This may sound silly, but, do I save it or can I put it away so I can put it in a roll and swap it out.

You see, I have a 1776-1976 Quarter which appears to display the fine details . The letters looks crisp and we'll defined, including fine lines on the drums.

What is wrong with this coin? I can't see anything noticeable from the pics.

If you are asking about the "76-D", there is not really anything wrong with it
apart from the fact that it shows some cirulation wear. It seem to have a little luster still on it..

The picture was posted on an error topic. I asked what was wrong to make it an error. Not what was wrong with the condition of the coin.

Your question did not mention it being an Error. as did not the OP.

I have a 79 quarter that's identical to the one above . Where the I and n are together just like it. And filled in d. So I'm not sure about it being just wear.

Start your own unique thread with clear pictures
And the correct Numismatic Terminology is Doubled Die.. not double die
first find out if it is a real Doubled Die... worry about value last!
