My question is...is it a triple D with the top punch being almost 180 o's off center?
Not being a Lincoln collector is there a repunch for this date and mm?

Looks like PSD. The Punch is a raised letter like the letter on the coin, If you break the punch then part of the letter would be missing not looking like this coin.

    It's a damaged MM.

    See the similar 'flattening'
    above, on the digits.

    PART II. Die Varieties:
    Broken Punch

Definition: A broken punch that is used on a master or working die to create a design element or mintmark.

The mint mark punch used to make the D mint mark on all the working dies of 1979 Lincoln cent had a split on the lower serif.

This is broken punch when transferred onto the working die is commonly mistaken for a Repunched Mintmark, which it is not.

It might have started out as a broken punch MM,
but it's now damaged from a 'hit' over the D
    and the date.

Sorry, but a filled mm like this isn't rare. It's only worth face value

Helpful hint, it's better to start your own post. You will get more people looking at it
