1979 200 lira Italian Coin

Found this 1979 200 Lira coin in a small box in the back corner of my sock drawer. It appears to be gold? or gold plated? and has a coating of lacquer?
I checked a number of sites, but no gold ones?

@Robert Ransom, your photos are somewhat inconclusive. Regardless, Italian 200 Lire coins are made of aluminum bronze and were struck in massive quantities.

There are two varieties of this coin listed in Italian catalogs and command better prices but your coin is too worn to even look for the variety

 

I guess I will soak in acetone to, hopefully, remove the coating and then post it again, minus the mounting.
