A while back, @Theodosius sent a box of goodies to the Frog family and we have been slowly and steadily working our way through the contents and cataloging and photographing stuff. We came across this interesting Italian 50 Lire with what looks like a strike through on it. Wanted to see what everyone's opinion was. The edges are not rough like something was gouged out. The thing thing that has me puzzled is the edge. It is a bit wavy where the strike through is. Would something sitting on the edge of the die make that happen? Help me @paddyman98 and @JCro57 , you're our only hope! lol
Not sure what part you are talking about. There is no raised metal. The only raised part is along the edge where it is wavy.
Interesting. Some sort of Planchet Flaw. I'm thinking the egde would be wavy because it was thinner in the area in question. When the 3rd die (collar) struck it the metal expanded in a weird way.
