Okay im totally stuck... i found this quarter and i believe its silver because the way it sounds when u drop it.. is it possible to have a 1978 silver quarter no mint mark?
'P' didn't appear on quarter dollars till 1980. Prior to that Philly was distinguished from other mints by the absence of a mint mark.......
@Pamela Kelley , no not at all, what it means is that a 1977 quarter with no mint mark indicates it was minted in Philly. 1977 quarters with a mint mark such as D or S, would indicate that those quarters were minted in Denver and San Francisco.
The OP's 77 and the other 78 both are in much better condition than most of that vintage pulled from circulation today. Both are long term keepers for that reason alone. Weigh the 78 and show its rim if you believe it is silver. Most would highly doubt it.
Plated for some sort of curio set. Very common thing. Once the curio set outlives its purpose, the coins go back into circulation.
I’m still not quite sure I fully understand what that means. Is it just folks asking nonsense questions to see if we answer? What’s the point?
I have a quarter 1977 no Mark or letter in front is it worth anything? Oh yeah I also have a quarter 1969 no Mark either, any value?
