1977 Nickle

    I found this 1977 nickel in some pocket change with no mint mark. I think it might be doubled die letters on the front and back, but wanted to get another opinion. Thank you!

    I see no doubling.

    The correct terminology is just Doubled Die not Double Dyed.. No dye is used in the minting proccess.

    Welcome to CT @toughfind. Not to add insult to injury, it is Nickel, not nickle. You have a nice example that is 43 years old, but I also see nothing special about it.

    I think they are seeing the poor lighting and reflection cast by some of the letters.

    As stated lighting affects what we see. Also that could be Die Deterioration Doubling considered worthless doubling and nothing to do with a true Doubled Die variety.

    Any doubling you see on this coin is NAV or no added value doubling. The correct term is Doubled Die. Welcome to CT.
