1977 Lincoln cent error

Discussion in 'Error Coins' started by Larry Butler, Dec 22, 2017.

?

Is this a D/D as well as just an error? And is this a common 1977 error?

  1. It's very common

    100.0%
  2. It's very rare

It's most prominently greased at the top and it's struck a horse-hair off-center.

Yea that’s a great answer to his question. Maybe you can suggest a couple of retailers that you use that have $.01 items. Ha.......not

Nothing wrong with saying to spend it. I've replied to other saying their cent was a 'spender' --- in other words, unless someone is collecting cents to cash in later as dollars, there is no use in keeping the coin for any reason. Really only worth a cent, and only as long as it can be spent. There will likely be no other value to this in any of our lifetimes.

Just don’t tell a new member to spend a coin that is collectible. It might not be your cup of tea but it could possibly lead to a life long love and study of a significant sub type. Who thought Wexlers little project would be what it is today? What if some one told him to spend his first error coin HE found. Think about our hobby without Wexler’s work
Think about what we tell new members! IT IS IMPORTANT!

No offense intended:sorry:, but I'd like to see how lengthy your comments will be (for coins like this!) once you've reached 35,000+ posts.:woot:

@cpm9ball Yea I know that’s why I’m filling in the blanks for now. I know you guys can get tired of it. I’m still fresh for now. You got to admit though one sentence answers can be frustrating for all. Not just the OP but the readers of these treads. Especially for new members it’s important to think of their needs as we answer their questions. Not to just give an answer because we’re frustrated. Best not to give one at that point.
BTW Chris none of this pertains to you. Generally you give as much help to people as you can from what I’ve seen. This I respect greatly! This is NOT a challenge of any sort. I just hate short answers that can be damaging to new collectors and feel it’s important to say so.
    Just my opinion,
    Reed

I'm good with any post that's short or long, if it's honest and truthful. The more post the better. With many threads a reply is really a vote that may or may not agree with other post. This gives the OP more information to form an opinion.

you are right, we should tell him to get it slabbed for $30+ and then crack it out and spend it

Probably better to go to the Forums page, to the Coin Chat Forum and make your own post there with a photo.
