I've seen this on quite a few different coins, and keep wondering if it is just time damage or if it's a matter of polished die. I can not tell the difference. The I and M in DIME has nearly vanished. There is nothing remarkable on the Obverse. Except the Y in LIBERTY touches the rim, but I've seen that alot, I don't think it means anything, right? Thanks for your input.
Grease filled strike. You can see that there was some in the E of dime too, just not enough to obscure the whole letter.
