1976 d with missing clad layer?

    this is in one of my coin set's is this a mint error? copper is on the inside of the rim
    will post full pic;s if you all want them

    If this coin is still in mint cellophane, it has to be a mint error. All be it a very minor one. Not sure what it may be called. I have heard that one of the causes of coins like this is a dull blanking die that stretches the copper metal into a thin fin on the edge that gets folded over onto the face of the planchet.
    Thin or missing plating may also be the cause.
    Personally I would not want a coin like this in a mint set.

    yes it is still in the cello I have all so found 76 quarter with what looks like missing clad layer spots by the U,E,U and on the left arm quarter .jpg quarter002 .jpg
