1976 d error coin

    can any one tell in if this is a error coin 1976 there is a 2 After the 6 also it has a ripple feel and look to it and the letters in god we trust are ripple and the word liberty is the same

    I don't know, but the surface reminds me of when I was a kid, and put a coin between a fold of canvas, and walloped the hell out of it with a hammer. One wouldn't think that the texture would transfer, but it did.

    Looks like chemical damage. May have soaked the obverse in something mildly acidic or corrosive to copper for a period of time. There are no extra digits, just damage.

    Regardless of how it occurred, it did not leave the mint like this and is not an error
