Are these going to be worth any more that the Regular 2 Dollars printed back then ? I will always remember when I was 11 going to the post office with my Dad . That in itself was special !:)

They seem to be selling between $5 and $7 on eBay

It's the 1970's version of "First Strike". It's cool that someone made the effort.

I remember looking at the line at the post office to get those back then. I turned around and went back home it was a smart move.

To me, they are just damaged, defaced notes.

I think they are like a modern day coin with a counter stamp like the "Kennedy" counter stamp, But to each their own, I collect civil war Tokens too and they are useless, but I like them. Extra love if different like the "SPOOT" token. OR even Love tokens on old coins. So stamps on $2.00 I am guessing is a mark in History. like love tokens. 2.5 dollar gold love token Obv.jpg 2.5 dollar gold love token rev.jpg

More of a souvenir then a collectable, doubt if will ever be worth anything substantial.

Agreed, but many people like them.
Stamp with a cancellation is required.
But I was under the impression that the date of the cancellation should be something significant like July 4, 1976.

This cancellation is for the First Day of Issue for the $2 bills.

I've actually gotten about a dozen of these from a local bank, someone turned in the then 43 year old notes at the bank and I bought them at face.

    Didn't know that.
And none of my references (all 2 of them :() reference a "first day" which is why I didn't know.

    [15 minutes later]
    Ah ha!
I found the "first day" reference online.
    Now I know.
