I recently found this in my Grandfathers coin collection. Does anyone know what it is worth?

Without seeing it, my best guess is 1c. Someone probably dipped it in a solution.

1975 CENT with no mintmark was Minted at the Philadelphia Mint.
Silver look to it is most likely plated :yack:

Can you weigh it on a gram scale?

FYI - There have been a few rare finds of Cents struck on Dime silver planchets. The best way to determine is the weight and the size (would be smaller) such as this example
    Not my coin -

It feels heavier then a regular penny. I do not know the first thing about coins. I have tons and tons of them that my Grandfather left for me.

Had it been one year earlier (1974) you would have had some people wondering if it's the elusive aluminum cent.

EDIT: After reading the wikipedia article I linked above, there were some aluminum cents minted with the date 1975 also. Very unlikely yours is one of them, but you never know. First thing you need to do is weigh it.

That's not a good sign. Aluminum is very light and it would only weigh 0.937 grams. That's less than 1/3 the weight of the copper ones minted at that time.

Yeah I read Wikipedia also and it said about the 1975's. I think it felt heavier. I'm honestly not sure. I locked all the coins back up. This one had me wondering due to the fact that my Grandfather was a 33rd Degree Freemason, and I had read they were only handed out to certain members of House & Congress.
