All joking aside, if you can find a '75 quarter with no mint mark, then you'll have something.

Don't be too hard on "You Tube". It got me started coin collecting. However I am older and wiser since reading CT. Thanks Coin Talk members.
P.S. I do have to admit the "New Members" can be fun to hear from because it gets the active members to come up with some good "zingers".

I will be hard on YouTube and I will continue to call out all the charlatans at every chance I get. It's an insult to someone who has invested their time and effort to learn the field for years, and hear blatant misinformation from shysters and upstarts that try to profit from the hobby in devious ways and claim to be experts, when an experienced Numismatist knows damn good and well they are not. It makes my blood boil every time!

UTube may be responsible for getting a few newbies into the hobby but they are notorious for misinformation. That must be pointed out at every opportunity to correct the hobby itself.

Sorry @1916D10C. I didn't mean to get your ire up. Maybe you should go on YouTube and post your rant.

I get very ired and inflamed about YouTube! It's an incredible point of contention with me, much like American politics!

I've spent a decade of my life and counting, learning Numismatics, I've read books, I've gone to shows, I've been mentored by family and still am mentored by friends and acquaintances in the field who know far more than me, and I can attest it's not a field one learns overnight.

But then, bring in the latest generation, and even some folks my age, who haven't examined but a few dozen valuable coins in their life, they go to Google, pull down photos and read information they themselves have not researched on their own, and suddenly, they are Numismatic experts, and BLAM! pump out bogus content for their YouTube channels to whore themselves, not just for attention, but to make money too! The nerve! The greed! This, then, sets off a chain reaction as those that watch their videos become "experts" as well and feel qualified to share the bogus information they've learned! It's not only deceptive, it's deeply insulting and offensive to anybody that possesses true passion for this field! You're taking a field others have been studying for years and want to try to milk it for profit?! Nothing wrong at all with making money in Numismatics, that's what dealers do, but trying to make money off something you know absolutely nothing about! Yes! It makes my blood absolutely BOIL.

Believe it or not, I've been tempted to do this and compose a speech on the topic, but if I do, I'll simply be written off and labelled a"hater".

ETA: This whole YouTube thing extends beyond just Numismatics. Just yesterday a new video popped up on my feed, a video regarding psychology. It was about mastering one's emotions. Ironically, it relates to a book I'm currently reading. Now how on God's green earth is one supposed to learn a complex topic as such, through a 5 minute video, narrated by a kid that sounds like a complete geek? For real, the guy sounded like a complete video game geek who lives in his mom's basement smoking weed and playing fortnight!

YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and most other forms of social media are like a disease! I have to limit my use because the more I watch, the more cynical I become!

You tube does have it's uses, I watched a video to learn how to change the bearings in our washing machine!

A 13 minute video taught me how to change the heater fan switch in my Chevy in under a 1/2 hour. Plus it showed the cause of it going bad and how not to repeat the procedure. (faulty install at the factory)

Yes I also have gotten some good instructional videos from YT.
When my steering wheel was locked and I couldn't get the key out, or turn it on.
Opening my key fob (not as easy as it sounds) to replace the batteries.
To reset the maintenance light. And other videos.
I enjoy music videos and other areas of the YT site.

There are a few good channels out there, I won't argue that. Usually hosted by mature men or women with heads on their shoulders. John Correia with Active Self Protection (ASP) is one of my favorites. Sootch00 does good firearm reviews, also hickock45. As far as coins, there's much left to be desired.

Have you checked out John Correia and ASP? He's very educational and overall a class act!

John Correia and ASP is one of my favorites too.

The problem isn't so much with YT (I won't go into their censorship), but with the dorks acting like professionals, then other's believing them as gospel. Of course before that everyone watched TV and believed everyone on there because it was on TV. And the same goes with print and radio. What it boils down to is not using your brain to discern truth from fiction, honesty from scam, reality from make believe.
