Hello again to everyone. I found this beauty and wanted to know if this is a toned coin?
If so is it a highly collectible coin with the colors and the condition of the coin?

It is a nice specimen. It has eye appeal especially for a circulation find.

No real premium but collect what suits you. Especially at a cent… it’s easy to justify.

Nic example of a toned coin. Save it for my " Toner Tuesday" thread next week. biggrin.gif

That’s a beautiful toned coin. Highly collectible but not a high premium.

A chemist can change copper to almost any visual color. Hair coloring with copper compounds is over 40 different colors, artist colors of paint is usually over 60. Here is a list of the more common copper colors.

These have been used to produce toning, but there is no easy way to keep them stable other than air sealed holders. Copper compounds do not usually changed over a short time so be cautious with the holders. As copper is exposed to environment air, they change and direction to deep dark brown. Time depends on your environment, such as pollutants ,humidity, household chemicals, etc.

If you have faith with the seller, thats OK. If it is not, it may or may not turn out as you expect. IMO, Jim
