Hello, I’m new to these forums and this happens to be my first post and first time in any online forums. To be honest after reading some of these threads I’m a bit nervous after seeing these responses .. but I’m here for one reason and like most want to know if these look like anything worth keeping because I’m so tired of guessing ♀️. first dime is a 1975 D which has some letters in some random places on the obverse and edging. The second one I will post once we are finished with this one. Im leaving it to the pros now

Can you tell me how some of the lettering gets on other areas of the coin? I’m so interested in how this happens.

Ahhh I see, okay.. Wow I have so much to learn about these things. I was given a great link in the beginning of this thread which has helped so much. I think I was up until 2 am reading through all the different categories lol. unfortunately it will take me many more nights to finish it LOL

In my head this question sounds so dumb and probably is because why would I post about nickels and pennies in a dime thread neeeever miiiind I think I just answered my own question hahahaha
Yep. One thread per coin (or small group of coins posted at the same time). And put as much identification information in the headline - it increases the odds of finding the post later on.
Stop posting phone camera shots of your microscope screen. The double pixelization makes them useless - and many of the people you are asking for help simply ignore posts with them. In fact, enough of them and they'll put you on ignore.
The first coin - the dime - is what is called a vice job. Google it. I'll wait... waiting... still waiting... still waiting... and still waiting... OK, are you back? Did you figure out what it means? It means that a 2nd coin was pressed against your coin (often with a vice, but any kind of pressure will work) so that the RAISED letters on the 2nd coin are now INCUSE letters on your coin (and they are reversed too) INCUSE is another numismatic term to look up.
Hi @SoCal Mama and welcome to the greatest hobby on earth. There is so much palpable history that lies in our pocket change….. But yeah, the other side of this is that bored people do tend to abuse our coins. Keep looking. Last week one fellow found a Buffalo nickel from the early 1900’s in his pocket change!
