I came across this dime with some odd details. 1. The J in JS is missing, and the S is only partial. 2. There is a tiny S at the bottom of the coin, but that may be a die crack shaped like a S. It's in the rim just under where the JS should be. Regardless of what it is, it's interesting and fun to look at, because it's a perfect S. 3. There is definitely something under the 4 in the date. 4. I'm not positive, but the D mint mark looks extened on the upper right edge. 5. There is a tiny die mark in the lower half of B in LIBERTY 6. What are the lines that run through the "IN GOD WE TRUST", is that time damage or something else? What do you see? Weight: 2.28g Enlarge the photos too see, I hope they are good enough. Thanks for your input.
Cropping and posting full-size... 1) some grease in the die 2) Don't see it 3) Don't see it, but it is a MAD (Misaligned Die) 6) I think just scratches
1. It could be grease-filled die, but more than likely the “J” was obliterated from circulation wear. The “S” has been partially obliterated as well. 2. The tiny S is more circulation wear damage. 3. No, there is not anything definite under the 4. It is more than likely more wear damage. 4. I don’t see any extension of any type on the mint mark. 5. Die chip in B/LIBERTY. 6. Those lines are die scratches or heavy die polishing lines. …imo…Spark
I see another D on it. It's faint, but it's to the left. That would make it a missing J, partial S, double D.
