+1 on die chip when you see letter and numbers like that you have to remember that a Die is opposite of the letter. So an "S" has two small circles that protrude out in the die to help form the S. or the inner part of a D where their is one independent protruding small piece of metal. When the die smashes against the planchet (small circular pieces of metal) it starts fatiguing, and in this case since the small circles are so small they break off. Thus there is nothing there to help the S visually properly form. And thus are "filled in" when they replace the die you'll get a properly formed S .. until it starts chipping again. Dies are like car tires .. they wear out over time and you have to replace them. In this case every few days.
