You're hung up on "I see a zero, why can't the rest of you see it?" You need to start thinking "how could this occur during the minting and die making process". The reason why experienced members are telling you it's PMD is that an extra digit can't be added to the die.

The mint starts with a master hub. Then they make master dies. The master dies make working hubs and working hubs are used to make working dies which then strike coins. The date is added well before the working dies are made. So where does the extra digit come from?

Whether it's a stain or some other type of PMD doesn't really matter. What matters is that it can't occur during the minting process and that's what people have been trying to tell you.

You are sadly mistaken, we take pride in giving new collectors accurate answers. That's what you received and then got upset when it wasn't what you wanted to hear.

I personally take no pride in this. I tell people what I see. The pride happens when the poster disagrees with the majority of the comments.

there are errors out there but one has to research and understand what they have or don't have and well unlucky for you what you have is a PMD coin

Just another new member that gets upset with the truth. Not a great way to learn.

sometimes the truth is a bitter pill to swallow and many don't like the truth as it's not what they want to hear

Pareidolia is deeply wired into the human brain. It's the tendency to turn random noise into patterns.

If you go back to being a small, tasty primate approaching a dangerous watering hole, who lives longer to pass on their genes? The one who goes blithely up to the water or the one who looks and says "maybe that's just some random grasses or maybe it's a sleeping lion who will eat me?" - in that situation, the false positives are much less serious than the false negatives...

The counter to numismatic pareidolia is knowledge. Knowledge of how coins are minted and how they circulate.

The stain - and it is a stain - is on the field, the surface, the uppermost part of the design. Everything above the field is (because the die is a negative) punched INTO the die so it sticks out from the coin. Grease would skitter away until it found a hole to hide in. Something struck through would leave a depression on the coin. And an extra digit would be on EVERY coin struck by that die and well known.

Man you need to lighten up a little! I was just trying to explain to you, using a little humor, that there is no additional number there. Didn't mean to rile you!

Pareidolia is like looking at clouds. We all see different things but there really not there. It's just a cloud that looks like....

  11. I apologize for that . I am just trying to understand better , without sarcasm and underhanded comments , how it's Pareidolia when it's on other coins (not to same extent) . I get that the Brain sees what it wants to see , but how many clouds does it take to make it a Real Thing and not merely a stain or Psychosomatic illusion ? I ask in Good Faith bcs I have a few where there is clearly something wrong with the Date and if you hold on an angle you can see the silohette of a Number or Letter . Mainly the Number part but I have a couple that have a letter as well .
All said , Hypothetically What would it be 'IF' these were legitimate ? Is there a classification for that ? Sorry I'm waiting on a a lens to put over my camera to take better pictures .

  12. You're wrong , not what I wanted to hear is not the issue I took with . It was the Antagonistic Condescending manner in which some replies were worded . I appreciate the insight . Just don't take little passive Aggressive jabs while being informative . That's all . And to your point about the Mint Process , we already know that Coins can be and will be comprised albeit strike through cloth , struck on a Canadian Quarter , Restruck etc., There is a Possibility that in that process Something like this could and does happen , hence the name of the topic thread- Error Coins . The Minting Process is far from Bulletproof

  13. Also to be Clear , Even if this was a Genuine Anomaly . It's Not going to worth a whole heck of a lot because of the Condition of the coin. So this isn't driven by dollar signs , I'm trying to take a deeper look into Error coins and the who what when n hows . Seems very Plausible , don't know how many recognized Errors there are .

It's also possible that during a game of pool, when you break, all the balls will end up in the exact same position as where they started. Not very probable, but it could happen.

The impossible is only possible if it isn't impossible!!

  16. I just feel like if a coin can be Restruck on a Canadian Quarter like some that have and Numbers can be Struck through Grease leaving nothing but maybe a silohette of . Then Why isn't this Possible ? We're still discovering Errors on Coins that have been around for Decades . Why Not is the Real Question . Anyhow , I appreciate your Opinions and Notations . With that being said There's more ...

  18. Truth , that's Your Opinion not Truth .I'm just asking for Opinions and any Insight Not BS .Trust me I'm not Upset if anything I was trying to cut the Lil Jokes to get to a Real Answer in Your Own Opinion . If there is something Foolproof I'll acknowledge and accept that as the answer , but nobody has given one as of yet . Like I said , We're still discovering Errors on Coins that have been circulating for decades . So Yeah Nah it's just your Opinion , not the Truth .
