    Yes, it has been messed with. It looks as though someone hammered a bottle cap into the reverse, but I don’t think the diameters jive…so it has to be something else…Spark

    Looks like dried adhesive on the reverse. That Cent was probably attached to something and was taken off.

    Ok lol! :sorry: I should have known better. Now that I think about it and look at it, as a jewelry dealer he was, maybe painted with gold. But why a 73 but I’m glad he did not mess with a coin that has more of a story and history. If that makes sense. Ty!
