1973 DDO?

    1973-DDO-OBV.jpg 1973-DDO-REV.jpg I started looking at Coneca's details about the 73 DDO, but got confused !! What do you think?

    It looks like a MAD, Misaligned Die. It's very common for early 1970's Cents. The Double or False Rim to the left is what I saw to make this determination. But not a DDO.

    Interesting.....it did feel like a double thick Rim and actually sharp

    Sometimes they are sharp. You should go on youtube.com and see how these are minted. I think there's a video, there. They're minted like machine gun fire. That rapidly, that violent. That's why the people with the microscopes see so many "doubled dies," lol. Just about every coin at that level is going to show some strike doubling. Then, again, minor doubles dies can show, too.

    That's some good info. Because of the uneven strike during the milling process the sharpness is called a Finned Rim. When a bit of the coin is raised just enough to create that feel.
