Does the coin have a doubling error or machine error?

    I know very little about coins but feel I have came across a possible DDO/DDR half dollar from 1972d. Can some of you guys/gals with some experience and knowledge give me your opinions
    and help a newbie with some direction?

    The reverse has mechanical doubling. I don't see anything on the obverse.

    Thanks for the responses. I'm curious as to why some of the coin has obvious double look to it...I noticed the U and the N of "UNITED" first off and was anxious to say the least in hope of finding a double. What exactly causes the machine doubling?
