1972 quarter spitting eagle.

Got this today I knew of the 71 never seen a 72 before. Wish it was in better shape but I still add to the collection.

Yuck.. Spit is even worse!

From my understanding the original spitting eagle is a die clash from Washington on the Obverse. So it lines up with his image. Your issue is located in an area where it dies not line up.

I don't think so, either. I'm with Mr. P.! Note the continuation of the damage across the eagle's wing. It appears to be in the same line as the anomaly.

Besides, you cant prove that it is spit without a DNA test.

Looks like a scratch. You can see it continue across the Eagles wing. We would need a better photo to determine. Closer and more in focus. Not just a cropped image of the original blurry photo.

 

When the photo is enlarged, it appears to be a scratch and continues across the wing, so PMD.
