When it is die damage, the letter is cut into portions so the vertical and/or horizontal&nbsp; portions of the letter is less the width of either portion of a normal cent.</p><p><br /></p><p>1955/55 look at the areas the 2 raised die image touch and notice the width. Also, though hard to see usually, the Height of the lettering is usually close to the same, whereas when it is not a DD, one part can be normal height and the other flattened.</p><p><br /></p><p>The 1936 is a DDO, but not as strong as the 1955.
