While working on attributing my bag of 72 lincoln cents, I kept checking through all the coins that had a cud near Liberty to no avail.... I began researching the die markers and remembered seeing a cent that had die scratches around the memorial, scratches between the A and T in states, and 3 parallel scratches under the N in United-not to mention a gouge in the N. At the time I had only heard of the late die stage with the cuds near Liberty and my coin didn't fit-but the pattern of doubling on IGWT, 1972, and the L in Liberty did !! After further exploring Wexler's page on 72 DDO 004, I am 100% sure this is an early die stage, but I know nothing about the production number and values of the early die stages. I'd really appreciate a helping hand on my exciting find ! I will post full obverse and reverse pics shortly :b8nce:
