bryantallard show me the money....so i can look through it

ignorant is insisting it is when others tell you differently. asking how to tell the difference is a question that shows you are open minded to what others have to say and you actually want to learn. if the elements are all of equal height you probably got something. if one set is more elevated than the other, then nothing.

IMG_20151022_130809.jpg So, I am confident I will never ever take up photography as a hobby. I assumed (first mistake) getting a good shot of the scratches through the N in United would be a snap. In a nutshell, I cannot get a good pic of this area. So, here's the best of the bad shots. I know quality is horrible, but I am still trying to get at least one good pic to help with opinions. IMG_20151022_130505.jpg IMG_20151022_131211.jpg IMG_20151022_130954.jpg

Send it to an expert. I would not trust a coin shop to know all about doubled die's. Go to Coneca's website, and you will find the information on how to send it, and who is accepting coins..

I'm only seeing some master die doubling if anything...

I agree. I was hoping the glare was wiping out the doubling. I think you can rule out die 4. The place on the rim that looks like a rim CUD is well below the L. It should be adjacent to the L. Also, the die gouge at the N in united isn't present.

A better pic wouldn't help. This is NOT a doubled die. Not even close. Sorry.

I hope you all are still watching this thread. I took pictures and uploaded the wrong reverse cent. I had posted pics of another 1972 I have a few weeks ago, and that's the reverse coin I uploaded here. I am so sorry guys. I didn't even realize it until I've poster here mentioned the rim cud not being adjacent to the L, that I went to grab the cent to have a closer look and BAM, should have had a v8.

If anyone can take a look at these pics, they actually go with the obverse, which might make more sense :shame:

The quality is not better, because I haven't learned how to take better pics yet and it's still just me and my outdated cell phone for a camera.

Thanks guys for any input you might have left. Screenshot_2015-10-23-19-38-26.png IMG_20151023_193442.jpg IMG_20151023_193739.jpg

Still not die 4. The die markers, as does the doubling, have to match exactly. I normally just post the link, but I'm going to attach the image from coppercoins. Compare them closely. They have to match exactly.

Thanks guys for all the input. Thinking this might be the first coin I send to have someone look at, just to be sure.

I did do an overlay of the known reverse and mine and I can't say it's exact, but I can say, in my opinion, the markers seem to be there. Bear in mind, these are not photos from the same angle, or anything, they just so happened to match enough where I could layer the known ddo over mine to match enough.

But again, thank you for all your input. This site has taught me a lot and I look forward to learning more!! IMG_20151024_201112.jpg

john41 Toned coins, I like them. If I have it so can you.

If you are really interested in having the coin checked out you can send it to John Wexler and he will tell you exactly what you have. I think he charges 5-6 to do this.
