    Hello all,

I picked this up off ebay before my last trip and just opened it up today. I'm not 100% sure if it is the silver or the cupero-nickel version. It weighs 28.13 grams which is closer to the silver version. According to numista the silver version is 28.28 grams and the cupero-nickel is 28.47 grams. There isn't much wear. It has some really nice blue/gold toning as well. Any thoughts? I'm guessing it is probably the cupero-nickel version based on my luck :) Thanks for looking!

There is a difference in size.
Silver is 38.5 mm and the Copper-nickel is 38.61 mm.. can you measure it?

Or just try the old tissue test.. just follow the instructions

For the ones who have never heard of this, you take a bunch of coins flat on a table, cover them with tissue paper. Clads go DARK, and silver shines like a beacon

I just tried that with 2 64 Kennedys. 1 toned the other not. It looked just like your picture :) Unfortunately, the Gibraltar is a bit toned too so I don't know how well it will work. I may just have to take it with me next time I go to the LCS and see if they will measure it for me.

Yours is definitely copper nickel. You can tell by looking at it. That ain't silver.

I agree with the rest of the members here. Your example is definitely cupero-nickel and not silver. I can easily tell by looking at the color, you will never find a silver example looking like that.
